Just like every summer, we were busy transforming our classroom from an empty room to a space where learners could feel at home! We created many new spaces this year and are ready for learners to enter the doors on Tuesday with excitement for learning and forming new friendships. See the classroom transformation happen in the pictures below.
We just received a $500 grant from our school PTO to purchase some new furniture in our classroom! We also obtained 18 wobble stools through www.donorschoose.org. A big THANK YOU to all who have donated to our classroom to help us create learning spaces more personalized for children. The learners LOVE feeling cozy and at home!
Check out our classroom for the 2014-2015 school year! Many hours have been spent getting it ready for students. Tomorrow (Tuesday, September 2nd) we will welcome back all learners to Country View. Take a look at our gallery of classroom pictures!
Walking into the classroom to set up on the first day is a very daunting task. It takes hours to reorganize furniture to get everything in just the right spot. This year we've had many thoughts about creating personalized learning spaces. We plan to have a library, reading and writing nooks, a writing island, technology space, partner and independent work areas, science/social studies exploration space, conferencing areas, small and large group lesson areas, and more! Another component of personalized learning is to create cozy spaces for learners. We hope to have various forms of seating and lighting to create a "homy" atmosphere. It's important for students to feel a sense of belonging and take ownership over our space so, of course, we will leave lots of room for them to make this space their own as well. Visit our page again in a few weeks to see the progress!
It's crazy how summer time goes so fast. In just one day it will be time to start putting our classrooms together for the 2014-2015 school year! We feel that it is essential to create a comfortable, welcoming environment for our students to learn. A lot of thought goes into our classroom design before we are able to go in and get started. This year we plan to use an underwater theme (Dive Into Learning) and create our space to accommodate for more personalized learning! Therefore, we need to think about lighting, furniture placement, color schemes, bulletin boards, learning spaces, organizational spaces, and much, much more. We have lots of ideas for the 2014-2015 school year.... Stay tuned for updates!
